Bump and Run Players of the Week

The final week of the regular season saw some performances from players you would never expect.  With that, here is the final installment of Bump and Run’s Players of the Week.  Check back next week for our Players of the Year:

Offense

Jay Cutler: Cutler had his ups and downs all season long. But if you look at his final two weeks of the season, he looks like a Pro Bowler. He ended his season against the Lions throwing for 276 yards and 4 TD’s. Cutler = 1 point

Arian Foster: When you need a big game with a chance at the playoffs on the line, who wouldn’t want to hand the ball to Arian Foster.  That’s exactly what the Texans did in their win over the Patriots. He had 20 carries for 119 yards and 2 TD’s. Foster = 2 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

Donovan McNabb: McNabb kept the high flying Eagles offense going this week against the Broncos. He threw for 322 yards and 3 TD’s in the Eagles victory and put them in position for a first round bye with a victory next week against Dallas. McNabb = 1 point

Jay Cutler: Sometimes Jay Cutler looks awful and other times he looks absolutely awesome. And awesome is how he looked last night against the Vikings. Cutler threw for 273 yards and 4 TD’s including the game winner in OT following an AP fumble. Cutler = 2 points

Tom Brady: You know it’s getting close to playoff time when Brady is starting to heat up. He put 3 nails in the Jaguars coffin this weekend by throwing for 267 yards and 4 TD’s in a blowout. Brady = 3 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

An MVP candidate continues his march and a RB out of nowhere has an almost record breaking day, that and more in this week’s Bump and Run Players of the Week:

Offense

Andre Johnson: No he did not get in the endzone this week but what he has done over the last two weeks is cementing him as the best WR in the game.  He followed up his 193 yard effort last week with 9 catches for 196 yards this week in a crucial victory for the Texans. Johnson = 1 point

Ben Roethlisberger: The end of their game mirrored the end of the Steelers Super Bowl win last year. Roethlisberger hit a WR in the endzone who barely got 2 feet in for the game winning TD.  He threw for 503 yards on the day and 3 TD’s. Big Ben = 2 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

I hope you were one of the lucky people to have a premier WR on your fantasy team this weekend as the playoffs started because that’s who dominated the games this week.

Offense

DeSean Jackson: DeSean Jackson simply doesn’t score TD’s unless they are over 50 yards. This guy is SICK!!!  He is so explosive that whenever he touches the ball he can realistically take it to the house. Jackson torched the Giants secondary for 6 catches for 178 yards and 1 TD, he also had a 72 yard punt return for a TD. Jackson = 1 point

Chris Johnson: Quietly becoming the number one threat to Drew Brees’ MVP candidacy. He made the Rams D look really bad on Sunday. He had 3 TD’s (2 rushing and 1 receiving).   CJ finished with 117 yards rushing and 69 receiving. CJ = 2 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

Well this was one of those weekends that just didn’t make much sense.  I mean Oakland?? The Redskins almost pulling off the major upset, Jeff Fisher with some questionable goal to go coaching decisions, the Dolphins somehow beating Tom Brady and the Pats, yet the MVP candidates are still just that.

Offense

Antonio Gates: He is the best tight end in the game. He just can make every single catch and this weekend became a deep threat on two occasions. While Gates didn’t get in the end zone he still finished with 8 catches for 167 yards. Gates = 1 point

Bruce Gradkowski: I said Pittsburgh’s D would make the Oakland QB look stupid, what I meant to say was Gradkowski would make the Steelers D look dreadful.  He took the Raiders on the road and beat the Steelers. Yup you read that right, and he put up some great numbers as well. Grads threw for over 300 yards and three TD’s, including the game winner with 9 seconds left.  Grads = 2 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

Offense

Ray Rice: While Rice did not get in the end zone against the Steelers, he was very critical to the Ravens success.  Rice ran for 88 punishing yards and had 5 receptions for 67 yards, the biggest one coming on a 4th and 4 with about 3 minutes in regulation that set up the game tying field goal. Rice = 1 point

Vince Young: Vince Young has played in 5 games this season and he now has 5 victories.  Thanks to a 99 yard drive to end the game that saw him complete multiple passes on 4th down including a 4th and goal as time expired to give the Titans the victory. Young finished with 387 yards passing and the 1 TD. Young = 2 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

Ricky’s marijuana hiatus a few years ago sure makes him look like he’s 5 years younger than he is and one of the gutsiest QB’s makes a great play for a victory for a broken down town.  All that and more in this week’s Bump and Run Players of the Week:

Offense

Eli Manning: Normally his brother is on this list, but Eli got the Giants back in the win column this week by shredding the Falcons D.  Eli threw for nearly 400 yards and 3 TD’s. Manning = 1 point

Wes Welker: Why did the Pats lose to the Jets the first time around? Welker didn’t play.  White lightning was all over the place this weekend. He put the world on notice that white guys can do more than throw and kick.  He finished the day with 15 catches for 192 yards. Welker = 2 points

Bump and Run Players of the Week

First ballot Hall of Famer’s went head to head in a Sunday night showdown and a veteran shutdown cornerback was in on what seemed like every play. That and more in the week’s Bump and Run Players of the Week:

Offense

LaDainian Tomlinson: Before the game LT found out his wife was pregnant and from that moment it was bad news for the Eagles defense.  LT ran like it was 2 years ago and racked up 96 yards and 2 TD’s.  LT = 1 point.

Tom Brady: Funny what a difference one play can make. If the Patriots pick up that 4th down, Brady is the top player of the week and Manning might not be on the board.  Instead Manning moves up to 2 and Brady drops to 3.  The play call can be debated forever, what hasn’t been and should be is Brady throwing right to the stick rather than lobbing it to Moss who was 3 yards beyond the sticks.  He threw for 375 yards and 3 TD’s. Brady = 2 points.

Bump and Run Players of the Week

In this week’s Bump and Run Players of the Week, an old man bounced back and RB’s had their way:

Offense

Chris Johnson: If the Titans are going to win games, Johnson has to have huge games. That was the case yet again this weekend.  He punished the 49ers defense, rushing for 135 yards and 2 TD’s. Johnson = 1 point.

Drew Brees: Brees did what MVP’s do this weekend. The Saints were struggling in the first half and Brees was playing poorly.  But you can’t hold him down for a whole game.  He got it rolling in the second half and led his team back from 14 down.  Brees put up another 330 yards on 24-35 passing and threw for 1 TD. Brees = 2 points.

Bump and Run Players of the Week

Week 8 offered a few games with a lot of hype and while none of them turned out to be great games, some of the performances were.  On that note, here are your Bump and Run Players of the Week:

Offense

Ted Ginn:  After being banished to the bench at WR, Ginn had an NFL record day as a kick returner and keyed the Dolphins victory.  Ginn had 2 kick returns for TD’s, both over 100 yards. Ginn = 1 point.

Ryan Moats: A Steve Slaton fumble early on opened the door for Moats to step in.  He didn’t just step in, he stampeded over the Bills defense.  Moats carried the ball 23 times for 126 yards and 3 TD’s in the Texans 31-10 victory. Moats = 2 points.
