Bump and Run Players of the Week

On the offensive side of the ball, Brady said, “Oh you threw 4 TD’s, well I am going to throw 5. In a quarter.”  And defensively it’s quickly becoming the season of Jared Allen. Here are this week’s Bump and Run Players of the Week:

Offense

DeAngelo Williams: Williams ran out of his slump against the Bucs defense on Sunday.  The Panthers ran for over 260 yards, Williams accounted for 152 yards on 30 carries and added 2 TD’s, including the game winner with under 30 seconds remaining.  Williams = 1 point.

Matt Schaub: Schaub’s performance on Sunday was awesome.  He torched the Bengals secondary, going 28-40 for 392 yards and 4 TD’s in the 28-17 victory.  The Texans are two 4^th and goal’s from the one from possibly being 5-1.  If Schaub can keep this up they will sneak in the playoffs.  Schaub = 2 points.

Bump and Run Players of the Week

As the games conclude each week, we will select the 4 top performers on each side of the ball.  The players will be ranked 1-4, with player ranked number 1 receiving 4 points, player 2 receiving 3 points, player 3 receiving 2 points, and player 4 receiving 1 point.  We will keep tabs all year long and the player who receives the most points at the end of the season will be the BumpAndRun.com Offensive and Defensive player of the year.  And the results for week 1 are as follows:

4. Joe Flacco: Not only are the fans in Baltimore going “whacko for Flacco,” but the whole league might be doing so if he continues at this rate, 307 yards and 3 TD’s.  Granted it was verse a weak opponent, but he made all the throws necessary and got the Ravens off to a 1-0 start. Flacco = 1 point.

Bold Predictions for 2009 – Steelers are Repeat Defenders

September – the month when every team has hope, all fans have Super Bowl dreams and every pundit in America thinks they know how the upcoming NFL script will play out. By February, hope turns to despair and Super Bowl dreams become nightmares for all but one. As for the pundits, always wrong.  ALWAYS. Without further adieu, the 2009 NFL season according to yours truly:

Coach of the Year: Gary Kubiak, Texans – Houston makes the playoffs for the first time in franchise history as the offense thrives in the zone blocking scheme Kubiak helped make so famous in Denver.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Percy Harvin, Vikings - Favre and Harvin will make defenses pay if they continue to stack eight in the box.  Just lay off that Gator green, Percy. … Continue Reading
