Weekly Assignments: Ravens To Hand Manning, Colts First L

November 20, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

Each week, our staffers are given 3 to 4 games to breakdown for our readers – something we like to call our Weekly Assignments. Some are shorter than others, but they’re all equally fantastic. And hey, you may even learn a thing or two. Here’s our run-down for Week 11:

Chris Hayre (CH), Mark Rogers (MR), Pat Greissing (PG), Veronica James (VJ)

Washington at Dallas: Did the Skins show signs of life last week or was it the Broncos quit because they knew Chris Simms wasn’t going to move the football?? Can Dallas suck just as bad two weeks in a row? I am tempted to take the Skins in this game. However even a bad Tony Romo is 100 times better than a healthy Chris Simms. (PG)  Pick: Cowboys

Cleveland at Detroit: While I congratulate my sister on birthing my new niece, Makayla Elizabeth this past week, I think I’d rather watch a live childbirth than this game. (MR) Pick: Lions

Week 11 Staff Picks

So much for the Dolphins being done, huh? Ricky Williams scored 3 TD’s as the Dolphins beat the Panthers on Thursday night football. Of course all of us picked Carolina, which may or may not be a bad omen going into Week 11. Here are your staff picks and yes, you best believe I picked the Redskins this week: … Continue Reading

‘Phins Lose Ronnie Brown for Season, Wild Card Hopes Fade

Miami’s road to their second straight playoff appearance took a serious hit Wednesday when it was learned that Ronnie Brown would be lost for the rest of the season (foot). Put it this way: not even our resident ‘Phins fan Pat G. is giving his team much of a chance against Carolina on Thursday night. In fact, all of our staffers like the Panthers to take care of business and propel themselves back into the NFC Wild Card hunt.

Look for your Week 11 Staff Picks and Weekly Assignments on Friday. GOOD NIGHT.

This Bud’s For You!

Titans 86-year-old owner Bud Adams was feelin’ loose on Sunday. While Tennessee was cruising to a 41-17 victory over Buffalo, Adams proceeded throw up numerous hand signals from the owners box, including a gentleman-like gesture to every Bills fan in Adelphia Coliseum. The NFL fined Adams $250K for his antics:

There’s really only one word to describe this: hilarious. Maybe it’s because the dude is 86 and was probably enjoying a glass (or five) of fine Tennessee whiskey. Now, if an owner like Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder pulled a stunt like this, it may be one of the bigger controversies of the season. But it’s Bud, baby – not only was he letting the bird fly, he also threw in a few “Hook ‘Em Horns” gestures for his boy VY (who’s 3-0 as the starter, by the way). Frankly, I’m shocked that he didn’t “Make it Rain” in his box for good measure…

Weekly Assignments: Colts, Pats, Manning, Brady….BOOM!

Each week, our staffers are given 3 to 4 games to breakdown for our readers – something we like to call our Weekly Assignments. Some are shorter than others, but they’re all equally fantastic. And hey, you may even learn a thing or two. Here’s our run-down for Week 10:

Chris Hayre (CH), Mark Rogers (MR), Pat Greissing (PG), Veronica James (VJ)

Chicago at San Francisco: Two teams down on their luck collide for a Thursday night tilt at Candlestick. What in the world has happened to the Bears defense? After getting thrashed for 45 points by the Bengals, that once feared Bears D saw the Cards march into Soldier Field two weeks later and hang-up 41 points. Both teams are desperate which should make for a competitive game. I’ll go with Cutler in a shootout over Alex Smith. (CH) Pick: Bears

New Orleans at St. Louis: The 8-0 Saints travel to the home of the Clydesdales this weekend to take on the St. Louis Rams.  What stinks for the Rams is that they play in a dome, just like the Saints.   If they were looking for at least one advantage, perhaps it could have been the home field – well, not so much.  I haven’t looked at the lines yet but if there is going to be a 20+ point spread this year, this may be it – or, if not this week, when the Rams visit New Orleans. I’m not giving the Rams much of a chance here so… (MR) Pick: Saints

Week 10 Staff Picks

November 11, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

Burning questions for Week 10:

Which team has more to lose Thursday: 49ers or Bears?

Can the Bengals sweep both the Ravens and the Steelers to put a stranglehold on the AFC North?

Bigger blowout: Saints over Rams or Vikings over Lions?

After losing to the Raiders three weeks ago in Oakland, can the Eagles beat the Chargers in San Diego?

Will Brady v. Manning be a sneak-preview of this season’s AFC Championship?

The second Thursday night game of the season means you get your picks a day early:

Weekly Assignments: Can Big Blue Stop the Bleeding?

November 5, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

Each week, our staffers are given 4 to 5 games to breakdown for our readers – something we like to call our Weekly Assignments. Some are shorter than others, but they’re all equally fantastic. And hey, you may even learn a thing or two. Here’s our run-down for Week 9:

Chris Hayre (CH), Mark Rogers (MR), Pat Greissing (PG)

Washington at Atlanta: The Falcons have lost two games in a row for the first time in the Mike Smith era. The Redskins come to town fresh off a bye but still without an identity. Expect Matty Ice to get going early and for ATL to get back on track with a W against my beloved Redskins. (CH) Pick: Falcons

Arizona at Chicago: Last week, Chicago routed Cleveland 30-6 while the Cardinals lost to the hapless Panthers at home, 34-21. The Cardinals continue to be consistently inconsistent, so really, I have no clue (nor does anyone else) which team is going to ‘show-up’ this week. With that said, I like the Bears this week at home. (MR) Pick: Bears

Week 9 Staff Picks

November 5, 2009 Uncategorized No Comments

We’re at the mid-way point of the season and for the record Pat Greissing is killing it - an 83-33 record. He has a better record thus far than guys like Adam Schefter, Chris Mortensen and every other ESPN talking head. Just sayin’ – we employ high-priced talent here at Bump and Run. Keep it up, Patrick.

VJ is out sick this week so you’ll have to put your trust in Mark, Pat and yours truly. Here are your Week 9 picks: … Continue Reading
