Preseason Observations from Thursday

August 26, 2010 Daily Content No Comments

Green Bay 59 Indianapolis 24 - Easy Green Bay, save a little for the regular season. Three weeks into preseason, Aaron Rodgers (21/29, 195 yards and 3 TD’s) looks like the best quarterback in football and Peyton Manning (15/26, 214 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT) didn’t seem too far behind. A few fantasy nuggets: Jermichael Finley continues to ball-out at the TE position for the Pack. Tonight he caught six balls for 85 yards and 1 touchdown in just one half of work. Colts RB Joseph Addai broke off a nice 49-yard run on the first play of the game, but left in the third quarter with a concussion. Keep an eye on that situation as Addai’s back-up Donald Brown (5 carries, 6 yards) didn’t impress. Reggie Wayne caught 7 balls for 96 yards and a touchdown. Really, what else would you expect?

St. Louis 36 New England 35 -  Hold up, did I just say that Aaron Rodgers looks like the best quarterback in football? Tom Brady, a guy who’s ironically looking for Sam Bradford money, went bananas on Thursday (18/22, 273 yards and 3 TD’s). But the bigger story on this night was the young rookie Bradford (15/22, 189 yards and 2 TD’s) going tit for tat with Tom Terrific. The #1 overall pick looked comfortable and made some big throws against the Pats 1st team defense. A few fantasy nuggets: Rams WR Donnie Avery, one of the few Rams with fantasy value, went down with a nasty knee injury — it sure looked like a season-ender. Randy Moss caught a 65-yard touchdown bomb and yes, he’s in a contract year. Wes Welker, coming off a major knee injury, caught a 39-yard pass from Brady. And if you don’t know, now you know: Sam Bradford’s favorite target is TE Michael Hoomanawanui. The rookie caught four balls for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
