Chris Hayre March 4, 2010 Daily Content No Comments

Throughout the months of February and March, Bump and Run will break down the needs of each NFL team as free agency and the draft approaches. Today, it’s the NFC West:

Arizona Cardinals: Hall-of-Fame quarterback: OUT. Party boy: IN. How scary is that if you’re a Cards fan? Matt Leinart will have the first crack at keeping Arizona atop of the NFC West, but the gap is quickly closing. The release of S Antrel Rolle and anticipated departure of LB Karlos Dansby puts the defense in a tough spot.

Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Karlos Dansby, LB; Antrel Rolle, S; Neil Rackers, PK.

Needs: LB, QB, OL, Secondary

St. Louis Rams: Steve Spagnuolo, please sign Michael Vick. Not much more to say – oh, the Gateway Arch is nice.

Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Leonard Little, DL.

Needs: QB, WR, OL, Defense (hey, they were 1-15)

San Francisco 49ers: The 9ers started 2009 guns a blazin’, but a four-game losing streak starting in October allowed Arizona to put a stranglehold on the division before Thanksgiving. Mike Singletary needs to figure out if quarterback Alex Smith is his guy or not.

Key Unrestricted Free Agents: ‘Dre Bly, CB; Mark Roman, FS, Walt Harris, CB.

Needs: Secondary, QB

Seattle Seahawks: Rah, rah, rah, Pete Carroll ‘s in the building! He’ll have the tall task of reshaping the ‘Hawks in his likeness. Don’t be surprised if a few Trojans are signed along the way to help the cause. Matt Hasselbeck is a nice stop-gap, but drafting a franchise quarterback in April has to be atop the to-do list.

Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Nate Burleson, WR;

Needs: DE, OL, RB, QB
