2010 Offseason Breakdown: AFC South Needs
Throughout the month of February, Bump and Run will break down the needs of each NFL team as free agency and the draft approaches. Today, it’s the AFC South:
Houston Texans: The Texans were very close to making their first playoff appearance last season. What caused them to just miss? Most notably the lack of a consistent running game, poor play calling in the red zone, their kicker choking and the inability to stop people.
Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Dunta Robinson, CB; Kevin Walter, WR; Matt Turk, P.
Key Restricted Free Agents: Owen Daniels, TE; DeMeco Ryans, LB; Bernard Pollard, S; Rashad Butler, OT.
Needs: RB, CB, DT, WR (if Walter and Daniels leave)
Indianapolis Colts: A great season by the Colts ended with the Super Bowl loss. After the loss people begin to question Peyton Manning. People, get a clue. The reason the Colts lost the Super Bowl is because their OL got punished and a cut by Reggie Wayne was not as sharp as it was 2 years ago.
Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Gary Brackett, LB.
Key Restricted Free Agents: Antoine Bathea, S; Marlin Jackson, CB.
Needs: OL, Backup QB, WR, DT
Jacksonville Jaguars: How many more years can the NFL keep a franchise in the city of Jacksonville? No one goes to the games. No players want to sign there because of that. They just seem like a team destined for LA.
Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Reggie Hayward, DE
Needs: TE, OL, CB’s, LB’s
Tennessee Titans: One of the more entertaining teams to watch during the second half of the season. The rebirth of Vince Young and the amazing talent of Chris Johnson, this team is one piece away on offense and a few on defense.
Key Unrestricted Free Agents: Keith Bullock, LB; Kyle Vanden Bosch, DE; Kevin Mawae, C.
Key Restricted Free Agents: Bo Scaife, TE; LenDale White, RB; Stephen Tulloch, LB.
Needs: LB, OL, WR, DE
