Weekly Assignments: Do or Die for Big Blue

December 2, 2009 Daily Content No Comments

NY Jets at Buffalo: NFL on Thursday night travels North of the border for a battle of AFC East mediocrity.  The Jets have been pretty bad since they started the season off fast.  The Bills have shown signs of life since the coaching change and a more aggressive style on the offensive side of the ball.  The kid from Harvard has got it going on and I don’t think the Jets will stop him. Pick: Bills

Philadelphia at Atlanta: The Eagles come to town minus superstar playmaker DeSean Jackson. But Atlanta will definitely be without Matty Ice and probably Burner Turner as well.  Picking Andy Reid on the road just scares the crap out of me, but at least this week he stays on the East coast and I really can’t bet on Chris Redman to lead the Falcons to 2 straight W’s. Pick: Eagles

St. Louis at Chicago: Ugly. Really ugly.  I’d almost rather watch someone holding themselves up by the toilet with a Sunday morning hangover than the garbage that will unfold at Soldier Field.  I am not even sure the people in Chicago or St. Louis care too much about this one, other than they both just want a top 10 draft pick.  Jay Cutler to Dez Bryant could be a legit combo. Pick: Bears

Detroit at Cincinnati: So the Bengals now have a 1-2 punch at the RB position. That is very dangerous. But they need to get back to throwing the football and having balance. This is a good scrimmage to practice. Pick: Bengals

Oakland at Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh’s D makes Oakland QB’s look stupid, kind of like El Tigre. So this is a good time to address the Tiger Woods drama on a football website. For such a smart guy, how dumb is he???? Dude you have enough money and AT&T is a sponsor, get a 2nd cell phone your wife wouldn’t know about. I know you couldn’t live life while you were a teenager, but live it before you say “I do.” Now you are paying your wife seven figures just to stay with you, yeah I am sure that will last long. And Tiger, #1 thing you don’t do is text a chick you are going to wear her out.  That just screams dorky Caucasian side of the Caublanasian. There are three bright spots to all this. First, you still have all your money and sponsors. Second you didn’t pull a Steve Phillips. And third you aren’t from Pittsburgh. Pick: Steelers

Tennessee at Indianapolis: The last 5 weeks neither of these teams have lost. This looks like it is setting up to be a classic Titans-Colts game. After this game everyone will know how to spell B-I-R-O-N-A-S as he will hit the game winner from 50 yards out. VY wins again. Pick: Titans

Denver at Kansas City: Denver made things right last week and I don’t expect that to change this week. Todd Haley is pushing things in the right direction in Kansas City, next year this could be a game with a lot of meaning. Pick: Broncos

New England at Miami: Last week’s loss to the Bills was just flat out awful. If the Phins had won this would be for the division lead. Instead it’ll just be the Patriots all pissed off putting the official stake through the heart to end the Dolphins playoffs hopes. Pick: Patriots

New Orleans at Washington: A friend just texted me saying Washington on the money line on Sunday, especially if it snows. My response was I’d take the Saints if they were favored by 28.  The Saints are the most complete team in the league.  That being said weird things do happen in the NFL every week. I just don’t think anything that weird will happen in this game. Did you know Darren Sharper has more INT return yards this season than Kelly, Thomas and Davis have receiving yards so far through almost two seasons??? Pick: Saints

Tampa Bay at Carolina: Again a game that absolutely no one cares about. I like the Bucs in this game. Why you ask? I don’t have an answer. Pick: Tampa Bay

San Diego at Cleveland: These teams have one thing in common. They are both poorly coached. However San Diego has a crap load of talent and sometimes, just sometimes talent can overcome bad coaching unless of course you are playing a good team with a good coach. Oh man, that’s why SD always fails to go anywhere in the playoffs. Pick: Chargers

Dallas at NY Giants: Well, we pretty much all know how December’s go for Tony Romo and the Cowboys.  And we also know that the Giants are a pretty good team at home in December recently.  I didn’t look that up so I may just be trying to talk myself into something so let’s just roll with it.  Eli has a sore foot and after this game Romo will have his feelings hurt. These teams are mirror images of each other right now.  That image has to scare all their fans because it’s not pretty. Pick: Giants

San Francisco at Seattle: San Fran needs this badly. They have to prove them can win on the road if they have a hope of sniffing the last wild card spot. Alex Smith is a starter in this league by the way, he was just overwhelmed for like 4 or 5 years. Pick: 49ers

Minnesota at Arizona: Anyone else get the sense that AP or Favre is going to get hurt in one of these next games thus ruining the Vikings season.  The Vikes offense is good, but I am not a believer in their defense at all. They are just simply put LAZY!!!!  I am picking the Vikings here, just because I don’t know if Warner is playing. If he is I actually like the Cardinals to win….I just wanted that in writing. Pick: Vikings

Baltimore at Green Bay: Ray Rice is the difference maker for the Ravens. GB’s game plan should be to take him out. Make Flacco beat you.  Flacco is capable but that is the best way to approach the Ravens. The Packers you know are going to throw the football 65 percent of the time. Not good news for the Ravens considering other than Ed Reed their secondary is a pile of poop. Pick: Packers
