Walking the Waiver Wire: 3 Guys to Consider
Here are three players that may be available in your league, depending on roster sizes:
Ladell Betts (Washington Redskins – RB) – I realize that the Redskins are struggling as an offense. If Clinton Portis couldn’t do it, why would Ladell Betts be able to? Well, as I have mentioned in previous articles, to have a starting running back on your roster that has no competition for carries is rare these days. As long as Portis is out, you have think about giving Betts a start, but only based on his matchups. Last week against the Falcons after Portis was concussed, Betts played well with 15 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown and one catch for 23 yards. Look for Betts to get 20+ carries this week vs. the Broncos.
Betts: Waiver pick 7 or higher (long term) or good fill in this week if you have injury/bye (short term)
Chris Chambers (Kansas City Chiefs – WR) – Just signed off the street, Chambers put up 70 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 9 at Jacksonville. As a Dwayne Bowe owner, talk about frustrating. While in no way will Chambers consistently put up these types of numbers each week, he may have value as a #2 receiver in KC since we assume them to behind in most of their games.
Chambers: Waiver pick 7 or higher
Kevin Walter (Houston Texans – WR) – Walter may have been dropped by an impatient owner earlier in the year since he was playing 3rd fiddle to Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels in the passing game. Now that Daniels is out with a torn ACL, look for Walter to get significantly more looks per game in the Texans high powered offense. He could be a WR3 or flex moving forward with a potential for WR2 status in PPR leagues.
Walter: Waiver pick 4 or higher
