Walking the Waiver Wire – 3 Guys to Consider
Here are this week’s top waiver wire pick-ups for Week 8 depending on league size:
Shonn Green (New York Jets – RB) – With Leon Washington going down in Week 7, the talented rookie from Iowa will finally get his chance to shine. The Jets, with one of the best offensive lines in football, will continue to pound the ball as they protect rookie QB Mark Sanchez from making mistakes. They will only play one team who ranks in the top 10 vs. the run for the remainder of the year. If Green gets Washington’s 10-15 carries a game, he will be a strong flex play moving forward.
Green: Worth waiver pick 1 and up
Jamaal Charles (Kansas City Chiefs – RB) – Not so much because Charles has been that good, but Larry Johnson is just shooting himself in the foot. With his recent outburst on twitter insulting the Chiefs, Todd Haley, and maybe even his mother, Johnson is completely setting himself up for a suspension or just being released. Apparently, he has forgotten that playing the NFL is a privilege and not a right. Charles should take over the starting running back position in Kansas City, regardless of what LJ does.
Charles: Worth waiver pick 3 and up
Beanie Wells (Arizona Cardinals – RB)– Beanie gave us a preview of what is to come in Week 7 when he amassed 77 yards and a touchdown vs. the Giants. While he hasn’t taken over for Hightower yet, he is starting to get acclimated to the Cardinals system. With defenses respecting the Cardinals passing game, there should be opportunities for Wells to be a productive back moving forward.
Wells: Worth waiver pick 3 and up
