Survivor Pool Solutions for Week 5: Minnesota Vikings

October 6, 2009 Daily Content No Comments

With the parity in today’s NFL, selecting THE team for your Survivor Pool each week takes more thought and strategy than ever before. We here at Bump and Run don’t want you to screw it up. Survivor Pool Solutions will help to alleviate the stresses of making that gut-wrenching decision (at least we hope so). This week’s play: The Minnesota Vikings.

Fresh off a Monday night W against their hated rival, the Vikes are flying high and ready to pounce on the hapless Rams in Week 5. The victory over the Packers sent a message to the rest of the league – if you put 8 or 9 guys in the box to stop Adrian Peterson, Favre is going to burn you. The Silver Fox is starting to hit his stride, and frankly it’s scary to think how explosive this offense can be if everyone stays healthy. Defensively, I don’t know what’s more awesome: Jared Allen, his mullet or his celebration after a sack.

So here’s your question – “Why would I use the Vikings in Week 5? That’s nuts.” Not really. After Week 5, Minnesota’s schedule gets brutal: vs. Baltimore, at Pittsburgh, at Green Bay, Bye. There’s no chance you’re going to use the Vikes during any of those weeks. Don’t get caught up in the “Oh, I’ll use this team later in the season.” There may not be a later for you!! Collect the gimmie games now while that other person in your pool takes the early risk and gets bounced. You need to be calculated, pick your spots. The Rams are coming off an embarrassing 35-0 loss to the 49ers, who might I add were without their best player on offense, Frank Gore. Expect All Day to run ramped and for Minnesota to feast on the Rams in their final tune-up before the Ravens come to town.

Still not convinced? Here are a few other games to consider:

Pittsburgh over DETROIT

PHILADELPHIA over Tampa Bay

**Home team in CAPS

Survive and advance. We’ll see you next week.
